Rebecca Gilling
Rebecca Gilling is one of Australia's best known actors and has starred in many dramas, including The Young Doctors, Cop Shop and Return To Eden.

An architect's daughter, Rebecca's main interest is design, but she is not afraid to get her hands dirty when renovating a house. Eleven years ago she and her husband did up an old federation weatherboard. They then answered the call of the country and bought an old fibro cottage built at the turn of the century and located in the Blue Mountains.

Working alongside her father and another architect, they have come up with a great renovation design for the old place, which Tony, her husband, is helping to build.

Rebecca presents the latest in home renovating and decorating, along with practical, affordable and inspirational handy hints and tips on how to enhance your home.
Tara Dennis
Tara Dennis joins the OUR HOUSE team after beginning her television career as one of CHANGING ROOMS' designers in 1998.

A passion for art and craft led Tara to study paint finishes in London where she lived between 1988 and 1993. Following her study, Tara established her own design company in 1991 in London and specialised in paint finishes and soft furnishings for homes.

On her return home Tara joined a Sydney-based artists' paint company as a product manager. She continues to work there in addition to her commitments as OUR HOUSE's craft and decorating presenter.

Tara travels extensively overseas to countries such as the United States, Japan, Britain, Korea and New Zealand to teach training seminars in painting techniques and products.

Tara has formed a publishing company and produced three instructional art books. She also edits a quarterly newsletter on colour inspiration and new techniques.

Alongside her proficiency with paint and finishes, Tara enjoys all facets of art and craft including ceramics, water colours and soft furnishings.

Tara has a daughter, eight year-old Avalon, and enjoys tennis.

Reg Livermore
Reg Livermore, former Burke's Backyard reporter, is one of Australia's favourite sons. His enormous popularity has endured over the years with Reg appearing in such shows as Betty Blockbuster Follies, Barnum, The Pirates of Penzance, Lolanthe and Home Sweet Home.

Reg's passion is houses. His first project was a house at Church Point designed for him by respected Australian architect Guildford Bell. He then purchased a property in the Blue Mountains on which he built a self-designed house, including of course, his magnificent gardens.

Between theatrical and television projects Reg also paints and his works enhance many a wall.

Each week, Reg presents handy home ideas for the renovator and decorator, solving all kinds of problems for all types of budgets. Reg turns renovating into fun and almost any decor into an art form and enjoys experimenting in his popular cooking segments.

Shirley Strachan

1952-2001
Although SHIRLEY STRACHAN became a household name with the success of the group "Skyhooks", few people knew of his first career - carpentry. Fresh out of school, Shirl had one ambition - to become a "chippy". He got his ticket after completing an apprenticeship under the guidance of his father, a builder for 40 years.

Shirl worked for his dad until he faced a career crisis in 1974 - "Skyhooks" was offered a gig as support act to "Sherbet" at the Sydney Opera House - Shirl downed tools and headed for Sydney .... the rest, as they say, is history.

Carpentry is a trade that once learned is never forgotten - and Shirl proved that. In 1983 he built a surf shop and factory at Phillip Island.

Shirley Strachan was no stranger to the television camera. As well as being the frontman and spokesman for "Skyhooks" for so long, Shirl presented his own children's show, "Shirl's Neighbourhood", between 1979-83. He was also seen as the "lotto" man in most states.

From 1995 -1997 Shirl hosted Brisbane's Triple MMM's Breakfast Show with Gary Belcher, Dean Miller and Mr. T.

Shirl brought unlimited experience to the do-it-yourself area of OUR HOUSE, a program he was an integral part of from its debut in June 1993 until his untimely death in 2001. His infectious personality and his down-to-earth approach made him a firm favourite with the audience as he explained complex tasks in terms everyone could understand.

Although Shirl would have hated the term, he was a classic "Renaissance" man. He reinvented himself and his career several times over a 30-year period, but despite his many successes, he always kept his feet firmly on the ground.
