Jenny advises that furniture should be arranged to ensure that there are clear, uncluttered walkways. This will maximise the feeling of space in a room. Jenny also advises that the television seating arrangements should be disregarded, as invariably this placement won't emphasise the best characteristics of the room. Rather, the seating should be placed where it will enhance the room or the view. Mirrors can also help open up a room, especially when they're positioned to reflect objects such as flowers or artworks.

As purchasers always want to see that furniture will fit in a room, Jenny advises that if you have a spare bedroom, you should put a bed and some accessories in the room. Also, add some fresh bedcovers to make the room feel bright and clean.

The kitchen should be bright and appealing. Placing items like chillis, limes and grapefruits in bowls around the kitchen will add great colour. Interesting jars placed on benchtops create another focal point.

Pleasant aromas can create a positive affect on potential purchasers. For example, fresh coffee brewing in the kitchen, or a mild scent from an oil burner is an easy way to make your home more appealing. Music is also important; it should fill the room, not overtake it. Instrumental music is perhaps the most appropriate choice to achieve the right ambience.
