Here is an unusual home service that is not widely used. *Leonora*, who has studied metaphysics and parapsychology for 22 years, offers this "ghostbusting" service. (One of her previous jobs was at Paul Keating's Woollahra home, communicating with a ghost involved in a child's accident at the turn of the century).
What is a ghost?
One theory is that when people die, they leave an emotional imprint in the environment in which they lived. This imprint is absorbed into the surrounding walls and other parts of the immediate environment. In the main, ghosts can leave by themselves, but occasionally psychic help is needed in order for them to move on to another, more peaceful dimension.
What does a haunting feel like?
According to *Leonora*, you may feel or see something that is unexpected. This could be a light or tap turning on, a tap on the shoulder, feeling a cool breeze, a vision of someone walking past you, seeing people talking or feeling an aggressive energy.
Objects may be moved around the home and this form of energy could originate from the ghost's living pattern from when they were "alive". In the same way, various sounds may be created.
The ghost busting process
*Leonora* sometimes burns incense and candles to form a smoke trail around her. She may splash water around at strategic points during the process. This helps to get her in the correct mindset so that she can communicate with the spirit or ghost and restore harmony back into the environment.
The duration of the "ghostbusting" process can take as little as 15 minutes or as long as a couple of days. The average length of time is one to two hours. Even if a home is haunted, the spirits may not be malicious. Apparently, people can also imagine they see ghosts, when in fact none are present.
