Glenn has had a successful career as fast bowler for the Australian cricket team since his Test debut against New Zealand in Perth 1993/94. Honoured as International Cricketer of the Year for the 1996/97 season, Glenn also took Man of the Series against England and Sri Lanka in 1999. Recently he won the inaugural Allan Border medal as Australian player of the year for the 99/2000 season.
Glenn lives in a spacious two storey home with wife Jane and young son. They bought the house in 1998 but haven't done much work on it due to Glenn's schedule which keeps him out of the country for a good part of the year. Glenn says that most of the work is organised by Jane when he is on tour, bowling his way around the world.
The room the couple have concentrated on is the upstairs entertaining area. By knocking down the dividing wall of two small rooms and putting in polished floorboards, they have opened the area. Complete with a bar and Glenn's collection of cricket trophies and souvenirs the room is fantastic for entertaining. But to extend the room onto the balcony, and take full advantage of their water views they have installed Stegbar Cedar Bi-folding doors.
Glenn and Jane chose a Federation style Bi-folding door which adds space and light to their entertaining area and easy access to the balcony. Stegbar provide a complete design, manufacture and installation service. To make way for the door a brick wall, a large window and a sliding door had to be knocked out. The door runs on a track made from aluminium which minimises wear and is corrosion resistant. Adjustable nylon rollers are used for minimal friction and smooth, quiet operation. The doors are sealed to guard against wind, dust and rain.
Overall the couple were extremely happy with the renovation, and plan to make good use of it before Glenn leaves for his next tour.
