This old, dark bathroom comes complete with leaking taps, outdated tiles and even a chandelier. The owners want to modernise, making it much more contemporary with an easy care, low maintenance finish and a spacious but functional feel. So, they're going to knock down a wall, put in a window to improve ventilation and light and add some new fixtures for a whole new look.
This 1940's home has been lovingly restored by its owners with the main bathroom left until last. The bathroom is glitzy with black marble used throughout and gold fittings and chandeliers on the walls. This bathroom is mainly used by the owners two small children so a bath is a necessity. Also, the toilet is separate and the owners would like to see the toilet and bathroom combined.
The new bathroom will use large format rectified tiles. These will be butt joined, requiring minimal grout creating the illusion of more space. The other new fixtures include: Decina Prima Bath, Prince hand shower with rail, an over bath screen, Stylus Boreal toilet suite, Duplo room heater, Gessi basin and shower mixers, Arctica glass top vanity with matching mirror and down lights and exhaust fan.
The Earp Bros large format rectified tile uses the latest technology. The large format increases the similarity with slabs of natural stone. Large format tiles have fewer joins, providing an optical effect that enlarges the space of the room. There are a number of patterns and colour combinations with imitations of exclusive marble. Brilliant white and ivory are also included in this range.
The tiles are covered with a layer of ceramic glaze, so they are not porous. As a result, they don't stain and require zero maintenance. The tiles are produced to precise dimensions to make laying them easier.
The beauty of this product is its strong resemblance to marble without the problems associated with marble. The end result is approximately half the cost arising from the reduced material cost, reduced adhesives cost and labour charges for fixing. |
