Outside amenities are common in many old terrace houses leaving the owners the challenge of relocating them. While the bathroom and laundry were once cold outhouses, we now prefer more practical and modern interior facilities. Today we'll visit the owners of an old terrace who moved the bathroom inside in an earlier renovation but now want the same done with the laundry. Rebecca has a look.

The laundry is just on the other side of the bathroom at the back of this terrace house so it won't be difficult to change the access. First the dividing wall is knocked down and the old tiles and bath are removed. The owners are taking advantage of the opportunity and changing the whole layout of the new bathroom/ laundry. Unfortunately this means the drainage has to be changed and the whole slab removed.

This leads to another problem. The back and side walls of the old laundry were built on dirt footings and were very unstable so they have to be knocked down and concrete poured in to give the new walls a sturdy foundation.

A large frosted window is added to lighten the whole room but maintain privacy and some corrugated iron sheeting installed to match the existing roof. A new bath comes in and the tiling can begin. Tumbled marble floor and mosaic tiles and border tiles around the mirror finish off the tiling with just the bathroom products to go. For under $15,000, the owners now have a new stylish and contemporary internal bathroom and laundry, a complete transformation.
