The family garage typically becomes a storage area for everything and anything. You're lucky if the car still fits inside! Gavin Jensen of In Garages to the rescue. Gavin is going to revamp our space to include a work station, work bench, plenty of shelving and loads of storage space. He uses second hand commercial furniture to replace some unsightly shelving units and other junk.
Firstly Gavin removes old fittings and linings on the wall and takes the carpet out. The new melamine panelled wall lining in grey makes a big difference and goes well with the metal storage cabinets. The work station is completed with easy computer access and plenty of storage is added to the work bench area with shelves above.
Bike racks are an important aspect as a couple of bikes take up a lot of floor space. Gavin also makes room for the owners bench press and handweights in the same area. The carpet is now brought back in and the car can finally fit.
Gavin's costs varies according to what's required but the total cost of this makeover was $4100. The majority of this is materials with an extra $500 for labour.
