Zac (8), Jackson (6) and Madison (4) share a bedroom and as yet don't have a designated play room to put all their things. The storage basement under the kitchen is perfect and Tara and Shirl will transform it into a private haven for the kids to read, paint, draw and keep all their toys.
First the room is given a good spring clean and a new paint job. A white ceiling to maximise light and a blue and yellow beach theme for the walls and floor. Tara and mum Rebecca showed off their talents with paintings of a sea snake, lighthouse, reeds, palm tree, an orange crab and treasure chest to complete the look.
The claw foot bath, once an unused corner, became a reading lounge filled with cushions and a new shower rose light. A lego bench was set up in one corner with another matching workbench opposite for the painting and drawing. The existing laundry tub was given a facelift as well as the fridge and filing cabinet. Shirl made a cover for the tub with MDF to add extra bench space.
To finish it off, a couple of rugs on the floor and some sturdy stools complete the play haven.
