Shirl's packing his bags and going back to preschool. Only, this time there won't be time for little lunch and an afternoon nap — Shirl's got just one day to build a play area for the kids. He's called on the play equipment specialists at Playspace to lend a hand, and by the end of the day there should be 80 happy children in the playground.
The kids of Panania Preschool have a bare yard and are in desperate need of new equipment. So, they wrote to the Shirl and the Our House team, asking for help. Together with Playspace, Shirl's going to build a playground that's bigger and better than they could have imagined.
Due to the change in Occupational and Safety regulations Panania Preschool had to demolish their outdoor play equipment — it just wasn't up to code anymore. We don't want to make the same mistake, so Playspace is going to lend a hand. They specialise in this type of equipment and place importance on safety.
Playspace is 100% Australian owned. Their equipment meets Australian and International safety standards, and they are continually updating their designs. It is also important to provide age appropriate play equipment, so we're building a playground that will challenge as well as entertain the Panania preschoolers.
As well as adhering to safety regulations, Playspace aims at providing children with a playground that caters for a range of developmental opportunities. This way, children of all stages can play and learn simultaneously. Playspace designs encourage them to explore, manipulate, construct and fantasise.
Playspace aims to achieve many goals when designing a playground. The first is safety, then there's fun, motor skill development, decision making, learning and social development. They have an understanding of the developing child and the different stages they achieve through play.
