| Pool in a Pool |
| Many tired old pools meet an inglorious end, being buried back into the garden, but it is possible to give yourself a whole new pool without the added expense. |

The owners were keen to renovate their pool and, as the original was past its use-by date, they decided to rebuild inside the existing structure.

To begin, the original pool was drained and test holes were dug to establish whether the ground would be able to withstand the combined weight of the old and new pools. There were no obvious leaks or cracking, which meant that the foundations were in pretty good condition.

The new pool is obviously a little smaller, allowing for a larger walkway to be built around the edge. The metal framework was sprayed with concrete and this became the shell of the new pool. The waterline tiles were added and then the walkway was built up and paved with Haddonstone paving. The pool was then rendered, lined with Deep Pacific Quartzon pebble lining, filled with water and ready for use. The owners even decided to do some landscaping at the same time.

As they did not have to break up the old pool and cart away the rubble, the owners saved about $5000.
