A vintage makeover for this out-dated kitchen.

The owners of this 1930s bungalow have worked hard to maintain its original style. The main let down is the 1970s re-vamped kitchen, which has definitely seen better days.
For this makeover, the original layout is maintained to cut costs. However, it will be up-dated with modern appliances and conveniences. A timeless colour scheme, together with clever detailing in the door hardware, provides a transition between the old and the new, in keeping with the rest of the thirties-style home.

The old cupboards, bench tops, sink, splash backs are first removed. There are no structural problems, although a few “rough spots” are uncovered. As the owners are working to a strict budget, these are left as they will be covered by the installation of the new kitchen cupboards, etc.

“Argyle” speckled granite-finish bench tops are chosen to tie in with the 1930s theme. A stainless steel sink and antique white cupboards are next installed. Both the bench tops and cupboards are supplied by Laminex.

Details such as door handles, tiling on the splash backs and modern white-goods appliances are added to complete this kitchen makeover.

Laminex Industries supplied the laminate for this kitchen. “New Antique White” was used for the bevelled edge cupboard doors. The bench top style is called “Argyle”. For further information on Laminex products, Ph: 132 136.
