This kitchen is in a prime position, with breathtaking views of Pittwater, north of Sydney. To make the most of the spectacular outlook, and to keep in line with the home's value, the owners are going to give the kitchen a complete makeover. This renovation is carried out by qualified tradesmen.

The old kitchen is removed and slate look-alike ceramic floor tiles are laid on a 6mm fibrous cement underlay to prevent them from cracking.

The walls are painted in a subtle Alpine Green to complement the two strongest kitchen elements of timber and stainless steel.

A computer-generated plan shows that space previously unused will be filled by a pantry and overhead cupboards. Apart from these additions the kitchen layout is similar to before.

Stainless-steel laminate kickboards support the water-resistant melamine carcass, and the laminated benchtop (Daintry Stone). This is edged with brush-box timber to tie in with the distressed solid pine cabinet doors. This gives the appearance of recycled timber.

New appliances are then fitted. They include a dishwasher, a one-and-a-half bowl stainless-steel sink and a stainless-steel oven with ceramic hob. The fridge is especially chosen as it has had four extra coats of paint applied. This prevents corrosion from the salt air.

A rangehood and stainless-steel splashbacks complete the rustic theme.
