As far as Our House is concerned, the worse a place looks before a makeover, the better. This kitchen fits the criteria perfectly, it is small and cramped, the benches are low and it is surrounded by truly hideous wallpaper. The kitchen sits off the dining area which the owners have decided to convert into one room.
The unique thing about this makeover was the speed in which it was done. Within half a day, the archway dividing the kitchen and dining room had been knocked out, the wallpaper and lino removed, the kitchen window had been enlarged, the door into the sunroom was widened and the side window covered with Gyprock to make room for the fridge and pantry. The rest of the day was spent installing the new cupboards, benches and appliances.
The second day was spent tiling and painting. The owners chose tiles from the Tilecraft range and paints from Dulux and British Paints. The combination of the larger window and the tile and paint colours gave the room a lighter and more spacious appearance.
Within 48 hours the kitchen makeover was complete, and the owners were delighted with the results of the transformation.
