A child's room should be fun and imaginative, a place to be enjoyed. And what could be more fun than brightly coloured walls with magnetic attraction? This is now possible, with the help of a range of paints by Dulux: Dulux Wonder Walls Magicote and Magicolor.
The magical paint allows kids to create fanciful scenes and characters on their bedroom wall. This is done using Slap-Ups, magnetic characters available in a range of designs, such as Barbie, Bananas in Pyjamas, Winnie the Pooh and more.
The magical paint comes in 60 brilliant colours, with fun names like Flip Flop, Wriggle and Bug Catcher. This encourages children to take an active role in choosing a colour for their room.
Dulux Wonder Walls paints are water based and completely safe to use in any children's room. And it's not restricted to the walls. You can use the paint on any surface you might want to stick magnets to, like a cupboard, table or bookshelf. It's durable and washable so most marks are easy to wipe off.
To turn walls into an instant chalkboard, Dulux has also released Wonder Walls Chalkboard paint. You can make a small board for your children to draw on, or cover an entire wall. This paint is quick to apply and really saves on paper.
To create a magical wonderland in the bedroom, spread Wonder Walls Fairy Dust over any coloured surface. This glittery paint can add sparkle to walls, doors, trim and furniture.
This special product costs about the same price as regular paint, but it takes a lot more Wonder Walls Magicote to cover the surface. In fact, it only covers about half the area of normal paint.
APPLICATION
Apply two generous coats of Dulux Wonder Walls Magicote undercoat paint to the prepared surface, using a brush or roller. Allow the undercoat to dry for 2-3 hours between applications. Remember, you can paint almost anything in the room — walls, ceiling, furniture or doors. It is important to be generous with the paint because too little Magicote means the magnets won't stick.
Allow at least one day before applying two coats of Dulux Wonder Walls Magicolor. Leave the final coat to dry for five days, then you can decorate the walls with your favourite Slap-Up characters.
The furniture was also given a makeover, so it will fit with the new look. The chest of drawers has a glossy laminate surface and needs a special treatment that will allow the paint to adhere. ESP will leave a bonding film that the paint will stick to. Simply wipe on the ESP and remove after five minutes. Ninety minutes later you can apply your top coat.
We used Gotcha (bright blue) for the walls and Lime Spider (green) for the skirting board and fireplace. To decorate the small pine table we used Magic Dragon (purple) and Fairy Dust. The chest of drawers and bookshelf were painted Caterpillar (green/blue). Our chosen Slap-Ups were The Simpsons, Farmyard Animals, Letters, Numbers and Picture Corners and Frames.
