We all know bigger isn't always better and if you live in a small house, this certainly applies to the kitchen. The owners of this inner city studio need to make the most of a small space, so the kitchen is getting a revamp. The finished product is a great modern look with some fantastic space saving appliances.
For seven years the owners of this home have been cooking on a campstove, so a new kitchen is well overdue. With the help of Nobby Kitchens and Fisher and Paykel they are packing up their camping gear and heading home to a kitchen haven.
The kitchen is in dire need of some appliances but nothing too big. The Quantum Cooking range from Fisher and Paykel is specially made for small spaces and just the thing for this job. So, the tiny kitchen will be fitted with a half oven and dishdrawer. The items stack one on the other so they take up very little room. They create a sleek, clean finish in stainless steel which will compliment the new modern look.
It is amazing what appliances can be squeezed into small spaces and Fisher and Paykel's Astro Pizza Oven, DishDrawer and Jet 6 Gas Cooktop are specifically designed with this in mind. The oven is a compact half size with larger than you would expect capacity (38 litres). It provides all the features and functions of a full size oven plus a little bit more. The Astro Pizza Oven has four bake options, three grill options and defrost. It has self cleaning liners and a ceramic Pizza Stone and Paddle.
The oven is designed to compliment the stainless steel DishDrawer, and are stacked one on top of the other, under the bench top. One drawer is perfect for this small household and comfortably fits 12 large dinner plates. The drawer has a 5-star energy rating and uses as little as nine litres of water (you can even do a half load).
The Jet 6 Gas Cooktop fits neatly on the bench top. It has 4 burners (including one twin ring wok burner) and a stainless steel finish to match the appliances. The cooktop incorporates advanced gas safety technology and has an automatic flame failure detector to stop the gas supply if the flame is accidently extinguished.
Nobby Kitchens has specially designed the fitout to maximise space and style. To save bench space, the microwave is built into a cubby above the short fridge. A larger pantry next to the fridge provides maximum cupboard storage and has a cutlery drawer underneath. The bench height is 900mm, to accommodate the new oven and dishdrawer.
The bench top has a rough, durable finish and a drip proof edge to stop spills running into the cupboards and drawers. The bench top is Black Quarry and Black Kickboard. The cupboard doors are fitted with a 2mm thick PVC edge which guards against chipping and peeling when knocked by pots and pans.
The walls are retiled with Italian White Ripple tiles 200mm x 200mm. And the floor is laid with grey vinyl tiles.

Total Cost
The kitchen cost $5800 and installation was $460 (this was a bit cheaper because of the size of the kitchen).

Our Nobby Kitchen was fitted with Young Beech Rialto Style doors. The bench top was done in Blackstone Quarry and Black Kickboard.
Nobby provides a 10 year Warranty on all cabinetry and a Lifetime Warranty on drawer runners and hinges.
