Wedding reno - bathrooms & mirror
Natasha and Ray have renovated just about every room in the house and now it's time to take a look at the bathrooms.

The main bathroom will be given a complete facelift and a sophisticated new look. And to finish it off, Tara will create a modern mosaic mirror.

Ray and Natasha's main bathroom looks fine but it lacks good storage and an adult sized bath. So, the aim of this renovation is to address these problems as well as update the décor. The toilet and wall tiles will stay put, but for the rest of the bathroom it's time for an overhaul.

While the main bathroom is out of order, Natasha and Ray will need somewhere to shower. This problem is easily solved by hiring a portable shower from PORTALOO.

It's out with the old and in with new when it comes to the bath, but this one doesn't want to budge. And while we're taking things out of the bathroom, the flooring will be pulled up so new marble look tiles can be layed.

Next step is a meeting between Shirl and Natasha to design a DIY vanity. Shirl takes the appropriate measurements and notes on Natasha's desired look, then he's off to the workshop. The end result is a sophisticated, streamlined vanity with loads of storage space.

Natasha has chosen to finish the vanity with Formica colours including New England Elm and Caramel (trim). A Caroma basin and chrome tapware complete the look.

Every bathroom needs a good mirror. Tara shows us how to use mosaics to create a smart and individual bathroom feature. All you need is mosaic chips, grout, tile nippers and adhesive. To make things easier Shirl has edged the mirror (cut to the diamond shape) with MDF. This makes a smooth surface for laying the mosaics.

The next step includes installing the new, deep bath and adding feature tiles above the existing wall tiles. Like many old homes, Ray and Natasha's existing hot water service is old and inadequate. They've chosen to upgrade, installing a new Rinnai Infinity hot water service which has temperature control and heats water on demand.

The second bathroom looks tired. The toilet will stay where it is but Ray and Natasha will rip out and replace the existing tiles and vanity. Using mosaic and studded tiles from Tilecraft the bathroom will take on a smart, modern look. This room is tiny, so another diamond mirror, cut to shape, will be hung to create a feeling of extra space and light.

The end result is two very stylish and sophisticated bathrooms.
