The clock's ticking as Ray and Natasha's big day approaches. But while most brides-to-be are coordinating seating and flowers for the reception, Natasha's busy ripping out the kitchen of her house. It's a major renovation and if things don't happen soon there'll be nowhere to prepare the wedding feast, and a lot of hungry guests.
The initial plan was to work with the existing kitchen and simply raise the benches and fit some new appliances. But when builder Craig of Riddell Constructions stepped in, everyone agreed they should start from scratch. Craig and his team saw Natasha's kitchen as a challenge and the perfect way to use their cutting edge skills and equipment.
Natasha's background as a designer with her own company, Design Palace, and her 'previous life' as a chef and restaurant owner have proven a great combination for this kitchen renovation. Together, Natasha and Craig custom-designed the new kitchen to suit Natasha's love of cooking and entertaining.
For their stylish new kitchen, Ray and Natasha have chosen Fisher & Paykel's Quantum range of kitchen appliances, installing a new fridge, cooktop, oven, dishdrawer and rangehood. Their old appliances were sold at the garage sale.
Formica products were used for the cupboards, drawers, splashbacks and benchtops. Natasha chose Chocolate Pear Embossed for the drawers and cupboards which is available in pre-cut panels — this cuts down lengthy preparation time.
The first step in the kitchen renovation was to rip out the old fittings and appliances. The Formica benches and cupboards were constructed at Craig's workshop then transported to Ray and Natasha's house for installation. Finally, the new appliances and some finishing touches put the icing on the cake.
