Bob had been toying with the idea for quite some time and thought it was the perfect opportunity to build something else he'd always wanted a shed. Bob ended up killing three birds with one stone while the plans went ahead for the carport and shed, another bedroom was also added on.
The bedroom started first. Some original roof tiles had to be removed to allow new rafters and beams to be attached to the main house. Once up, fascia boards were fixed to the rafters.
The bedroom floor was laid with hardwood boards, fastened to kiln-dried hardwood supports. Kiln-dried is more expensive than regular hardwood supports, but the joists are straighter and stronger and there is less chance of movement.
The carport was built with a skillion roof which was tiled to match the rest of the house. The interior was then painted a calming blue and a roller door was installed as the entrance to the shed. The roller door offers Bob more room to move things in and out of the shed and also provides more light when open.
Pete decided to give Bob a surprise and put up some MDF shelves in the shed for extra storage space. Nothing fancy, just enough space to get his bits and pieces off the floor. Because he didn't know what Bob was going to store Pete used braced brackets for added strength. The brackets had pre-drilled holes which made fastening them to the MDF a breeze.
