| An old washboard provided the inspiration for this country-style cabinet. |

Cut the shape of the legs into the bottom of the two side pieces with a jigsaw. It would be a good idea to clamp the two pieces together to ensure that they are identical.
Glue and nail the two shelves into position between the two sides (see diagram A).
Checking that the items are square, glue and nail the V-groove back panel onto the frame.
Fix the top panel into position using dowel marker pins. Glue the top down and set the whole unit aside to dry.
Paint the mini orb with the metallic surfacer. Then when that is dry, apply the instant rust. The mini orb we got was actually Colourbond and had already been primed, which made things a little easier.
Make up the doorframe that will hold the piece of mini orb by pre-drilling, gluing and screwing the pieces together (see diagram B).
Rout around the inside edge of each frame to make a rebate with a ball bearing-guided rebating bit, then fit the mini-orb panel.
Glue and nail on the four door battens to hold the mini orb in place.
Rout around the front panel of the drawer with a roundover bit, then assemble the drawer and attach the knob to the front panel.
Fill any nail holes, sand, stain and varnish the unit and, finally, fit the door.
