Shirl recently had a letter from Michelle Moriarty from Lismore, asking him to make a toy box for her toddler's play room. So, he decided to make a toy box with a few extras. It doubles as a day seat, and most importantly has a user friendly lid, so there won't be any jammed fingers.
Step by Step 1. Cut all pieces to size using the cutting list.
2. Mark out curve shapes on the back piece. The shape can be altered to suit your own tastes. We used some paint tins to trace a series of "beach balls" onto our back.
3. Mark out the radius corner on the top front corner of the side pieces.
4. Cut out required shapes using a jigsaw.
5. Round over corners using a router.
6. Glue and screw the front and back to the sides, then attach the bottom piece.
7. Hinge the lid by attaching piano hinges to the back.
8. Attach the lid stays. It will help to make up a small model of the lid and a side to locate screw positions; any adjustments can be done on the model.
9. Fill all screw holes, attach castors, sand and paint as desired.
