Today Shirl shows us how to make a versatile outdoor chair which can be used at the beach, picnics or sports matches. The chair has been designed in two removable sections (canvas seat and back) which can be folded flat for easy transport and storage.

Step by Step:
Use a plane to take an arris off all edges.
Using a sliding bevel mark a 30 degree angle on the bottom of each back leg (2x590x32x22mm) and cut with jig saw.
Using a 20 cent coin as a guide mark and round over the opposite ends of the back legs (front of seat) the front ends of the seat side rails and both ends of the seat back.
Attach the six seat slats evenly spaced along the seat side rails. Use some scrap timber as a spacer. Make sure all holes are countersunk.
Cut a curved section out of the top cross rail of the back support. A flexible steel rule can be used as a guide to mark the curve. Tidy up with sandpaper.
Cut a check out 4mm deep into the back rest uprights to take the cross supports. Chisel out.
Assemble the seat back, do not glue!
Staple one edge of the canvas to the outside of one seat back upright.
Mark the canvas the outside edge of the opposite upright, disconnect the cross rails.
Roll this same upright through 360 degrees over the canvas, trim, then attach the canvas with staples.
Roll the canvas back over the upright so that the staples are hidden and assemble the backrest.
Stain if desired.
