1 Mark out the pieces. Cut the curve in the top piece first. Make the two ends by joining the two timber end pieces with a steel angle. To get smooth curves, put a nail in each end and use a flexible ruler to draw the curve. Drill 2 x 25mm holes in each end piece, and cut out to form the carry handles.
2 Lay your two side pieces on the bench. Hang the end section you made in Step 1 onto the end of the side piece, drill holes and rivet the side pieces to the end section. Use washers on the wood side to prevent the rivets pulling through. Repeat this process with the other end and side, then join the two - each side fits inside the other end.
3 Drill and rivet the two segments together. Add the bottom-edge angles. These are attached by drilling and riveting. Make sure you drill the holes slightly to the side of the previous rivets.
4 Drop in the bottom pieces and rivet into place.
