This clever idea is from viewer Marina Radford. We show you how to make a simple kitchen storage unit with a special spot for everything! It includes spaces for three different and much used kitchen rolls (on dowel rods), together with a handy shelf.

1
Line up your kitchen paper, aluminium foil and cling film rolls along one side piece of your rack, (see diagrams1 and 2) and mark in position. Pre-drill the sides (see diagram), ensuring you have a left and right side (a mirror image). Drill holes for the dowels to a depth of 10mm. The ends of the sides of the rack can be given a rounded finish if desired. (Draw around a paint tin to obtain the curves). (A "sun-design" decoration can be drawn and cut out from the top of the back of the rack, if desired. Use the base of a paint tin as a template, and add triangular points for the "rays").

2
Place one side on a flat surface. Insert the four dowels, leaving out the removable dowel for paper towels. Attach the other side to the dowels.

3
Leave the rack on its side and nail and glue on the 40 x 19mm piece of pine flush with the dowel. Nail on the top shelf and shaped backing, (one side only). Turn the rack onto the other side and nail together.

4
For the removable dowel (kitchen paper roll), use a tenon saw to cut away a 12mm slot towards the front of the rack and clean out with a sharp chisel.

5
Using small pins, nail on the serrated edge (to cut the kitchen paper, etc). Finish by painting with a bright colour scheme.
