We've followed the construction of gazebos on "Our House" before but this one is a bit different. It all hinges on the Bevis corner, which is a new design giving amazing flexibility to all joints of building construction.
The Bevis Corner is part of a range of innovative building products that feature a new design giving flexibility to all joints of a building. This includes the ability to change the pitch of the roof, the angle and the height from the holding feet. This is achieved by allowing timber or steel beams to be adjusted according to the desired specifications such as length, height and span. During construction the invention easily slots inside the steel "C" purlins and, for timber framing, the beams slide neatly inside the corner.
By introducing the Extension Corner, new or existing buildings can be extended at low cost and little inconvenience. Critical measurements are no longer required. By applying this new design, existing or potential problems, such as concrete level inconsistencies and inaccurate measurements are overcome as well as crane hire now becoming unnecessary. The pivotal corners can be assembled and lifted into place with basic equipment such as acros, and when the structure reaches the desired pitch, the builder simply screws the corner in to place.
Applications have begun in small sheds, walkways, pergolas, garages and carports. These applications are continually triggering new uses for the product.
Building Instructions for the gazebo
1. Find best suitable location. 2. Using either an existing concrete pad, pad to diagrams 1A & 1B, or assemble base using components according to the item list (if wanting to raise base using leg supports). 3. Mark footing locations. Remove base frame and dig holes. 4. Relocate base frame over holes, at desired level (refer to local council specifications) and bolt leg supports (hole minimum 600mm deep). Fill with concrete. 5. Screw decking to base frame. 6. Choose the centre point for the base of your gazebo. 7. Using the strap supplied, place a marking pen/pencil/chalk into the hole provided. 8. Rotate the strap on the circle where you wish your doorway post to be. 9. Mark the points where the strap meets the circle. 10. Move the strap around the circle, marking points where the strap meets the circle (this will divide your circle into six equal segments). 11. Place a footing on the inner side of the circle on each of the six points. 12. Dyna bolt or coach screw these footings in place. 13. Join uprights to footings. 14. Position acro lifter in centre of gazebo. 15. Slide fittings onto gazebo ring. 16. Insert split pins into ring to secure. 17. Place ring with fittings on top of acro lifter. 18. Attach roofing beams to gazebo fittings. 19. Slide Bevis corners onto the ends of the beams. 20. Lift acro. 21. Lift the Bevis corners and attach to the uprights. 22. Fix two screws in each side of the corners around the pivot point. 23. Fix all beams (roofing and uprights) with screws. 24. Remove acro. 25. Fit handrails. 26. Fix batons, sheets, flashing and trim. 27. Fit Centre Cap. 28. Fit trims to base support (raised base only).
