When you're buying a new lounge suite, it's not as easy as walking into a shop, picking the one you want, and taking it home immediately. But now there's a new lounge on the market that allows you to do just that. The "Passion" by deJong design can be bought off the shelf, so there's no waiting for delivery from the manufacturers.
The compact lounge is the brain child of Jonathan deJong. He came up with the idea about four years ago, finally producing the finished product in the past year. With a background in retail furniture, Jonathan knew there had to be a better way to package and sell lounge suites. The "Passion" allows shoppers to walk into a store and walk out with a lounge in their choice of colour.
The lounge is available in two sizes — 2 and 2 ½ seats. There are four coloured covers available with a choice of blue, navy, yellow and natural. When consumers buy a couch, they go home with two boxes — one contains the lounge and the other contains the cover. Additional covers can be bought separately.
The removable covers make it possible to change the colour of your lounge in a matter of minutes. This makes changing the look of a room instant and cost efficient. The covers are machine washable and the fabric is stain repellant.
The entire lounge can be assembled in less than ten minutes. It contains 12 bolts and wing nuts, all of which are provided, and no tools are required. There are four main pieces in the box, including a base with steel springs which makes the lounge sturdy and durable.
Putting the couch together is as easy as laying out the pieces one by one. The base, sides and back can all be placed into position, then attached with the bolts. The cushions go on next, and finally the skirted cover is stretched into place.
The compact packaging means the couch can be assembled anywhere. If access to a room is through a narrow doorway or staircase, the box can be opened and the pieces carried in one by one. This differs from traditional lounge suites, which are delivered in one piece and are difficult to disassemble.
Despite its good quality and compact convenience, the "Passion" is extremely well priced. The 2 seater with cover sells for $899 and the 2 ½ seater with cover retails for $999. Covers can also be bought separately, with a 2 seater cover priced at $349 and the 2 ½ seater cover selling for $399.
