Recycled building centres are a great place to pick up just about anything. Shirl found a couple of old windows in need of a little TLC and an expert touch. With a little help from Valley View Glass the old windows look as good as new.
Valley View Glass has been established for 30 years and Albert Adamson has been in the glass business since he left school. With a couple of new panes, some fresh putty and a good cleaning he turns these junkyard treasures into a work of art.
The old windows need a lot of attention and if it wasn't for their originality and character, they would still be on the junk heap. The old putty is cracked and a few pieces of glass are broken.
First Albert removes the old putty, some rusty nails and the broken glass. The coloured glass is replaced with a matching pane. It doesn't matter if the match isn't exact as the windows will be hung as pieces of art when they're finished. The clear glass pane is also replaced and new putty is applied. Finally, Albert cleans the windows and they're ready to go.
The new-look windows cost $80, but they look a million dollars.
