Uni-Pier
The Uni-Pier support system is very useful for building on uneven or sloping sites.

Traditionally, brick or timber piers have been the standard system to use when building the sub-floor support structure of your suspended floor. The advantages of the Uni-Pier system, as developed in Australia by Quika-Floor are:

1
Accuracy, high strength to weight ratio, spanning capabilities, manufactured from galvanised BHP steel, and fully adjustable.

2
The ease of installation is the beauty of this system-almost anyone can do it! There are very few "trade" tricks to getting it right, and unlike brick piers, you can adjust the height afterwards even if you do get it wrong.

3
The Uni-Pier supports can be installed by simply dropping them into the concrete footings before they have set, having first arranged for the bearers to sit at the correct height.

4
The piers are then bolted to the bearers after being adjusted to the correct height. Alternatively, Dynabolts can be used to fix the piers to concrete already set, but the first method will give greater strength. The piers work equally well with metal or wood bearers.

5
Uni-Pier becomes significantly cheaper to use in comparison to brick piers, once the sub-floor height is greater than 80cm.
Note: The limitation of this system is that it can't support suspended slab floors. Two storey houses and single storey shops are about the limit for this type of support.

Cost
The system ranges in size from 400mm to 4m. All Uni-Pier components are fully hot dipped galvanised. 400mm length : $ 26.33 (builders grade), $31.60 (heavy grade). 4m length : $ 130.73 (heavy grade only). Prices do not include bolts or screws. Prices and sizes to suit within the above range.
