If you find it difficult getting to your local greengrocer, and you have an Internet connection, Doug Carlson can help you.

By logging onto Doug's website, greengrocer.com, you can view the whole range of products available. To make an order, simply select the items you need from the list. You can then enter the quantity for each selection. The price per item appears on the screen and the total price is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Once your basket is full you need to insert your delivery details and any additional delivery instructions for the courier. Orders can be delivered to either an office or residential address. Delivery is free and payment is by credit card. The system is very secure as no credit card details are retained.

Once all orders are received for the day, the computer collates the orders. The orders are sent off that night to a buyer who purchases enough fresh fruit and vegetables to fill the orders. The produce is delivered to the warehouse, where it is picked and packed. One person picks the produce and another packs it, ensuring a double check on quality and quantity. Both picker and packer perform their task as if they were shopping for themselves. Every order is individually wrapped and delivered to your door that afternoon.

Doug's business is based in Sydney but he has customers all over the world. One Australian living in New York orders groceries for her elderly mother in Australia. Doug intends to expand his business to all Australia.
