Bathroom fan
Here is an exhaust fan for the bathroom that won't add to your electricity bill

We look at the installation of the Enviro fan for use in bathrooms. It is a ceiling exhaust fan, driven by water which moves through the system when the tap is turned on. The plumbing for the fan is installed in line. The water drives a small turbine, and then appears as per normal through the shower head.
The steam is released into the roof space and ducted out under the eaves in the same way as an electric exhaust fan operates.
It will also operate with water reduction showerheads that will allow a minimum of 12 litres of water per minute.

Advantages of the Enviro fan are:

The Enviro fan turns on only when the water is turned on, and turns off when you turn the taps off. That way, you can never forget to turn your exhaust fan on or off.
The Enviro fan requires no electrical power so it has no running cost. To clean the fan, all you need to do is unclip the cover and wipe it.
Because there is no motor driving the fan, it is quiet to run.
The Enviro fan is guaranteed for three years under the specified operating conditions.

Installation:

The Enviro fan can be installed either over the shower cubicle or towards the centre of the bathroom. However the fan will work more efficiently directly over the shower cubicle where steam is generated. It should only be installed by a qualified plumber.
In order to save costs, the fan is best installed during the construction of a new house or while you are renovating, as access has to be made to the shower piping.
Copper or flexible piping is run up to the fan from the join after the tap combination and before the shower rose. A circle of 295mm diameter is cut in the ceiling for the fan installation.

Cost
Enviro fan $89.00 (includes postage and handling) Installation costs around $20-$30 (during construction or during a renovation)
