| How to imitate the beautiful look of famous Moorcroft pottery, starting with a simple ceramic bowl. |

Apply the base coat with the flat brush using Nature Green.
Thin some of the Misty Green paint with water. Using the sea sponge, swirl this colour very lightly over the inside of the bowl. This is simply to give some colour variation to the background. It will dry very quickly.
Trace or draw the outline of the pattern onto the surface. If you are going to trace it, first follow the lines of the design with a soft lead pencil. Then, with the lead side next to the surface of the bowl, trace over the design again from the back, using a stylus. This will transfer the lead line from the paper to the bowl. A stylus is a wooden tool with a steel ball at the tip, often used by folk artists and ceramicists. It can give a more precise line than a pencil.
Using a round brush, paint the flowers with two coats of Coral Rose, then apply two coats of Artichoke to the leaves. Wait a couple of minutes between coats.
Wait a few more minutes for the paint to dry, then draw the outline of the petals onto the flowers (following the pattern). To create the effect of shading, use the deer foot stippler brush to dab on the paint (using Coral Rose) on the outer edge of each section of the rose. Now lightly stipple Nature Green over the lower half of each leaf, starting at the centre vein line and decreasing the amount of paint you add as you approach the edge.
This is where the Moorcroft style comes in, when we begin to use the Ceramichrome. Spoon some of the decorating paste into the decorating bag with the small, round tip. Carefully squeeze the paste along all the lines you have marked on your design, then add three dots to the centre of each flower. It's worth noting that the decorating paste can be tinted with any Softee acrylic colour if you don't want a white outline.
Allow the decorating paste to dry for 24 hours, then spray or paint your bowl with matt sealer to give a nice satin finish.
