| Marbled Glass Effect |
| You don't have to fly to Venice to see stunning glass artwork. |

We show you how to make your own "marbled" glass easily and cheaply. The marbled effect is created by hand-dipping into a special paint solution.
1 Clean the bottles with hot water and detergent. Rinse well and then rinse again with a mixture of half vinegar, half water and leave to dry.
2 Fill the ice cream container with water almost to the top. Dip the blunt end of a satay stick into the paint jar and let the paint drip onto the water surface to form a marble pattern. A couple of swirling movements with the stick will help create the marbled effect.
3 Lower a glass jar onto the pattern on the water and lift straight up. Coat each side in turn, overlapping as required for rounded objects. The paint may have to be replenished for each dip.
4 Place the marbled bottle on a rack and leave to dry for 24 hours.
5 If you're unhappy with the results, the paint can be removed whilst still tacky, by using turps. This paint is not dishwasher proof and should not be used on objects that will come into contact with food. If required, use very gentle hand washing only.
For a variation, masking tape can be applied to the vase before dipping to create a striped or check effect.
