| Here are three different ways to decorate wooden chests of drawers. |

Set of Drawers No. 1 (decorated for the bathroom)
1 Prime the exterior surfaces and back of the drawer fronts with white gesso and allow to dry.
2 Paint the top and sides of the chest in blue and allow to dry.
3 Take out the drawers and place back in the chest so they are back to front. This will hide the existing handles as we want to add our own knobs later.
4 Paint each individual drawer front in a different colour. Allow to dry. We used six different colours - yellow, green, purple, red, white and pink. You could save money by buying primary colours and mixing up your own shades.
5 Drill a hole in the centre of each drawer front and attach a new handle to each. The handles, which cost $12-15 dollars each, add personality to the piece.
Set of Drawers No. 2 (decorated for the lounge room)
1 Prime the drawers with white gesso and allow to dry.
2 Paint the top and sides of the chest in burnt orange and allow to dry.
3 Paint the drawer fronts in different colours. We chose mauve, blue, sky blue, aqua, lime green and forest green. Allow to dry. When creating a "dribbly" effect, it is preferable to choose colours in the same tone. Otherwise the finished look may be too busy.
4 Drip yellow paint over the tops of each of the six drawers. This will give the drawers a frozen wet paint look. Use two layers of drips. Water the first layer down so that the colour underneath shows through slightly and allow to dry. Then apply the second drip, which should be solid and thick. Only take the drips down about a third of the way from the top to the bottom of the drawer front. Tilt the drawers on their side so the drips don't run too far.
Set of Drawers No. 3 (decorated for the kitchen)
1 Prime the drawers with white gesso and allow to dry.
2 Paint the top and sides of the chest in yellow and allow to dry.
3 We created a blue and yellow marbling effect to decorate the drawer fronts. First, dampen the surface with water. Next, dab some yellow and blue paint directly from the tube onto the drawer. You will need about four or five dabs of each colour per drawer front (more if you are using a larger chest of drawers).Be sure to squeeze out even dabs of each colour. Then place some cling wrap over the drawer and simply smear the colours together. Lift the plastic and continue mixing the paints until you have achieved the desired effect. Allow to dry.
4 Paint sx wooden brooch buttons in yellow and allow to dry. These will be used to label each of the drawers.
5 Use black Letraset to write on the buttons. We chose labels that read "herbs", "spices", "teas", "lollies", "napkins" and "soups".
6 Once the labels have been applied, finish with varnish to protect the Letraset. Glue the buttons onto the drawer fronts using PVA glue.
