1 If you make patchwork quilts, you know that you have to draw your design by hand on plain paper or graph paper. Well, now there's a new computer program that allows you to come up with a design and colours before you even sew a stitch. This program is called PC Quilt and it contains a library of 40 quilts, 250 blocks, 55 borders, 77 fabrics and an almost unlimited range of colours. The program is available for both IBM-compatible and Macintosh computers.
2 PC Quilt is easy to use. Once you have worked out your basic design on the computer, you can add colours, borders and fabrics to suit your taste. It will even help in estimating how much material you need for your quilt (in either metric or imperial measurements). Once you are happy with your design, you can print a hard copy. A colour printout is preferable, although a black and white print will give you a close idea of how the finished quilt will look.
