Suzie meets up with her mother who is at the Patchwork House, which is the oldest patchwork shop in Melbourne. Owner Margaret Williams was having trouble finding fabric that was good enough for quilt making so she set up her own business that now sells quilt fabric and holds classes for those interested in learning the art of patchwork.
After running for twenty years, the classes have become extremely popular with nearly 100 customers attending the classes each week. Margaret has made 16-17 quilts in her 23 years of quilting. Each one takes more than a year. Margaret says the craft is addictive, attractive to many different types and once they've been taught the basics anyone can do it.
Patchwork House usually attracts women of all ages but they have had a few 'not so typical' students in the past. Margaret remembers a very tall male football player who became addicted and loved it so much his apartment is now full of his masterpieces.
Quilting is a highly social craft and Margaret says her customers love the friendships they form in their classes, where they talk about kids, husbands and of course - solve all the problems of the world. The groups are always kept small, which helps to keep the conversation flowing.

Classes cost $62 for 5 weeks, classes run for two hours.
