| Quilt Stories |
| We visited the Sydney Quilt Stories exhibition, where 150 years of Australian history have been woven into this display at Elizabeth Bay House. |

On display are quilts, tablecloths and rugs assembled from private collections around Australia. Some of these quilts have never been seen in public before. The exhibition tells the stories of these patchwork survivors, their makers, history, fabrics and workmanship.
The designs include examples of a wagga, a suffok puff and a tumbling block.
A wagga is a very basic rug made from recycled materials like old curtains and clothing. The term dates back to the 1880s when a couple of bush workers sewed some wheat bags together to keep themselves warm.
A suffolk puff is a circle of material sewn into a puff. Several are then pieced together, generally to form a decorative bed cover.
A tumbling block consists of diamond-shaped pieces of dark, medium and light-coloured fabric sewn together to give the impression of tumbling blocks.
