The Australian Women's Weekly Needlework, Craft and Art Fair was at Darling Harbour, Sydney. It opens in Melbourne on July 22. More than 160 exhibitors are showing under the one roof, with around 45 different workshops that are conducted daily.

The Fair features many new products from a wide range of different crafts. Receive free advice and see demonstrations and workshops covering the latest trends, materials and equipment. Some of the topics include tips from industry experts on cross-stitching, painting, teddy-bear making, knitting, marbling, sewing and embroidery techniques.

The Craft Fair includes decorating and renovating tips for your home, such as how to use stencils the right way, or how to paint stylishly. You can also find out how to make your own stained glass.

At this year's fair there's a great idea to get the kids up and running. It's the Young Creator's Workshop, which is open to children aged eight years and up. Children have the chance to learn folk art techniques, or maybe make a little decoupage piece.

Some New and Interesting Exhibitors

Walliesare a new and unique way of decorating your home. Made from pre-pasted, vinyl-coated wallpaper, they are easily applied to most smooth surfaces. You can stick them to walls, lampshades, vases, tiles, flower pots, drawers, cupboards, floors or picture frames. They come in packs of 25 and are easily applied and removed. Designs include red chillies, ivy leaves, cows, sunflowers, tropical fish, sea shells, etc. All you need to apply them is a wet sponge.

Homespun Treasuresis a new book being launched at the fair in Sydney that will inspire you to turn your scrap fabric into beautiful quilts. It has step-by-step instructions for eight scrap quilts.

The Bead Doctoris a new time-saving product which lets you bead quicker. It's a small wooden device that lines up your beads while sewing. You can watch a demonstration by Anlaby Designs, who make the product.

Clowns and Golliesare simple and inexpensive DIY ideas. The dolls come in kit form or you can buy them ready-made.
