A few years ago Ari Tanur, the owner of Arimex Trading, was involved in the fast-food industry in Mexico City. After visiting Australia he fell in love with Sydney and decided to stay, having identified a need for creative, vibrant and original homewares.

Ari now imports handcrafted Mexican ceramics, jewellery, sculpture, furniture and accessories. One of the most eye-catching items in his Chatswood showroom is a range of highly polished timber furniture. Smooth and silky to the touch, the timber is hand-painted and then heavily lacquered and buffed to create a glassy shine. Ari also stocks a range of ornate screens.

For clients who want something special, Ari will commission custom-made pieces from his Mexican craftsmen.
