PAINTING TILES: Can anyone tell me how to go about painting tiles. We are currently preparing our house for sale and want to give our kitchen a fresh look without spending too much money.

Just paint ESP on them. You can get it at any hardware store and it prepares tiles for painting. I have heard that you should clean the tiles first, then give them a light sand before applying the ESP. I have a friend that used it on her laminate kitchen, and this is her experience: she painted her laminate bout 4 years ago the laminate had a slightly wavy finish she does not think she wiped enough of the ESP off before painting she gave it two coats of paint - she did not think that was enough but it was also it was the wet season and humid so had a bit of trouble drying How it has worn: heat - she has had no problem with it, she has a small oven which kicks out heat, toaster, pots etc and no problem paint durability - has worn off on some of the 'waves' and she has touched it up in places but thinks could have to do with her original preparation scratching - yes it does, but again could have been original prep but as she said, most paint is on walls and considering this is on the bench you would take the same precautions such as not using sharp knives etc. If you scratch any paint with a sharp edge it will mark But overall - she gives it the thumbs up. Hope this is helpful for those who are interested in doing a similar project.
