PAINTING TILES
PAINTING TILES: Can anyone tell me how to go about painting tiles. We are currently preparing our house for sale and want to give our kitchen a fresh look without spending too much money.
RENDERING BRICK
RENDERING BRICK: I would like to render an exterior brick wall myself but can't find any information on the correct ratio of materials, and the best way to apply. Can anyone help?
RISING DAMP
RISING DAMP. I live in a rented full brick house. The damp course appears to have gone and with the extended wet weather (days at a time) and the clay soil, water has crept up the internal walls, even those in the middle of the house. The landlord doesn't want to replace the damp course and I don't want to move. The paint is peeling off come walls and the others have a reddish crusty residue. Under the paint appears to be the original plaster. It is a pinkish colour. I was wondering if anyone if I could bag the walls in such a situation and perhaps add a waterproofer such ad Silasic to the mixture. Has anyone had any success with such a method?
CLEANING GROUT
CLEANING GROUT: Could anyone please advise me how to clean the grout propertly inbetween ceramic floor tiles? Mine is looking pretty awful & I'm not having much success trying to clean them.
WOOD FINISH
WOOD FINISH: I have a 1930s art deco house in melbourne with heaps of wood inside. The wood around the window areas tends to get mould on it and the finish on the sills tends to be flaking off. It has a clear treatment of some sort on all these areas, and I am eager to strip them all back and redo the finish. How do I know what they have been varnished or polished with so that if I change one area it will match the finish on the areas I don't touch? The wood is really a feature and I don't want to ruin it.
WINTER FLOWERS
WINTER FLOWERS: I am new to gardening and especially when it comes to planting flowers. I am looking for flowers which will last during winter (or ideally throughout the year) to plant. Any suggestions ?
NATURAL WOOD FINISH
NATURAL WOOD FINISH: Can anyone tell me what I should use for a natural oil finish on wood projects?
Squeaky floors
SQUEAKY FLOORS: I have just moved into a town house 1 year old. The floor is wooden using large sheeting however it squeaks in 1 room. I have tried using additional nails but nothing seems to stop it. Does anybody have any simple remedy I could try?
